Do I have to open any ports on my CRM server? How does the click tracking work?
Click tracking works by sending data emails to your server. There is a special workflow processing these emails. So you don't need to open up any ports on your crm system. Everything you need is a working email configuration
What do you mean by "working email configuration"?
You need to have an email queue in your crm system where external mail appears correctly. The prerequisites for that contain installing the Exchange CRM email router. Please refer to the CRM Implementiation Guide for details.

Is it complicated to setup the software?
A bit. There is no installer due to the complexity of different CRM systems. If you follow the instructions precisely, you have the system up and running in 90 minutes.
