Problem


Solution

That error is caused by a bug in CRM and occurs only in upgraded installations of from Microsoft CRM 3.0 to Microsoft CRM 4.0.

It can be solved this way:

  1. Export the ISV.Config customizations
  2. Check that file. If it is not empty, proceed to step 4
  3. If the file is empty, you need the default ISV.Config file. One source is this page http://www.randomsyntax.com/2008/04/06/dynamics-crm-tip-isv-config-examples-customizing-menus-toolbars-navbars-etc/. Another source could be a clean CRM 4.0 installation with the same base language. Just export the ISV.Config from that installation.
  4. Import the default ISV.Config file (that should have quite a few lines) into the upgraded system.
  5. Publish all customizations
  6. Start the setup again (no need to uninstall first)
