Tree is not expanded properly, a message "Server was unable to process request" is displayedNo. KBA-01049-K44M

The customer History works fine for users with administrative privileges on CRM, but it fails for users with a more specific role. When the History is loaded, a message appears 'Server was unable to process request' and the tree on the left is not expanded properly.
The problem is caused by missing permissions of the user roles to some entities that are enabled with the History Configuration utility.
There are two ways to solve the problem:
- Disable the entities that the users have no permission to access
Open up the configuration utility, select the proper organization, uncheck the unneeded entities and click 'Update'
- Give the users permissions the entities in question
Open up the role in CRM and give the users permissions to see their own records of these entities and don't give them permissions to create any. This is a workaround for the situation when some users shall be able to use certain History enabled entities while others should not be able to use them (for instance: opportunities should be visible to Sales only).
